Purpose:
SHIBA understands health care coverage - and helps people understand their health insurance options.

SHIBA provides free, unbiased and confidential help with Medicare and health care choices.

SHIBA is a part of the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner.
SHIBA stands for Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisors, which was established by the Insurance Commissioner's office  to protect insurance consumers.

Expert volunteers will help you learn about different health care options and coverage from Medicare, Medicaid, Basic health, and other private health care insurance providers.

Senior Medicare Patrol volunteers will do presentations to your group to teach you about ways to avoid fraud and scams.  They will advise you about Medicare fraud and how to avoid it.

This FREE service provides counseling regarding prescription drug programs, long-term care options, health policy comparisons, and the many programs you qualify for.

Volunteer Opportunities:
  • Are you looking for a way to make a difference in your community?
If you have basic computer skills and an interest in health insurance and the Medicare maze, the SHIBA HelpLine is the place for you.
