Lutheran Community Services: Refugee Foster Care
Lutheran Community Services
LCSNW Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Program receives refugee youth ages 12-18 and places them into foster homes and group homes in the Spokane area. These youth have fled their countries due to war, conflict, and violence in search of safety and a better life. They do not have family to care for them, so our organization works to find them loving homes and reach their goals for success.
Youth mentors will be paired either one on one or with a small group (2-3) of youth to practice life skills, explore Spokane, play soccer, teach an instrument, practice riding the bus, etc. This position will look different for each mentor, depending on the youths' needs and mentor's specific skills. Commitment is 2+ hours/week for 6+ months. Must have reliable transportation.

Tutors can volunteer as subject-specific (English writing, biology, etc.) or general homework support. Commitment is 2+ hours/week for 6+ months. Must have reliable transportation.
