Purpose:
The MAC's purpose is to inspire and foster understanding of the history, cultures, communities, commerce and art of the Inland Northwest.

VISION STATEMENT:
The Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture will be the preeminent cultural showplace in the Pacific Northwest for the arts, history and lifelong learning

MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of the MAC is to actively engage all people in the appreciation of arts and culture through collections stewardship, exhibits and programs that educate and entertain.

The Eastern Washington State Historical Society was founded in 1916 as a Washington not-for-profit corporation, and designated a trustee of the State for collecting historical documents and artifacts in 1926.  The MAC is one of Washington's five Smithsonian Affiliates and is accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM).

By preserving and interpreting the stories, images, and objects of our state’s past, the Eastern Washington State Historical Society helps residents and visitors understand the present and shape the future.
