Volunteer Opportunities:
  • MDA Summer Camp- July 16-23rd. Partner one-on-one with youth ages 6-17 with muscle debilitating diseases. Assist with daily needs and serve as their buddy for the week! Must be 16 years or older and physically able to care for your camper.

Volunteering at MDA Summer Camp is a life enriching and inspiring opportunity. Volunteers help kids discover new interests, build self-confidence and experience the independence of being away from home in a safe environment where barriers don’t exist. It is an amazing opportunity to enhance their résumé when applying for scholarships, college, graduate school, employment, etc. Camp also provides a remarkable opportunity for volunteers to meet new people, build lifelong friendships with fellow counselors and create lasting memories for children living with muscle-debilitating diseases.

All of our campers have limited mobility, and this is their week to be without limits. They get to enjoy being around others like them, and enjoy simply being a kid at summer camp. Our volunteers are partnered one-on-one with campers to help push wheelchairs, perform transfer lifts, assist with daily needs, and participate in all activities with their campers! Volunteers must be 16 years of age and able to physically assist their camper.

Our camp is much like any other camp-we have swimming, dances, arts & crafts, games, and more! For our campers, this truly is the “best week of the year” and we wouldn’t be able to do it without our volunteers. All year long we hear from our campers about what they like at camp and how they can’t wait to go back.
