Child Pornography Laws

  • All states prohibit child pornography.
  • Child pornography is a visual depiction of a child (under 18) engaged in actual or simulated sexual conduct.  In most cases, porn is not only used to victimize children, but it is produced during the crime.
  • The very existence of child porn is considered “contraband,” or illegal, because the very act of photographing a child in any sexual context is evidence of child molestation and child abuse.
